Instructor Development Individual Courses
- It is not necessary to complete the full IDC program all at one time. These can be completed as stand alone courses, or as a single program, the IDC.
- In the PADI system divers train to become Open Water Scuba Instructors in the all in one, Instructor Development Course (IDC), or through completion of the included programs on a stand alone basis. They then qualify for the Open Water Instructor rating through successful completion of the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). The PADI IDC consists of three basic components, the Assistant Instructor Course, Open Water Scuba Instructor Course and the Emergency First Response Instructor Course. Upon completion of the program set the candidate is then eligible to participate in an Instructor Examination (IE).
- The Instructor Examination evaluates the candidates teaching ability, dive knowledge, skill level and understanding of the PADI system of diver education. IEs are conducted over two days by an examiner using standardized, objective testing criteria. Upon successful completion of the IE, the candidate achieves the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor rating.
Following are the required courses after Divemaster necessary to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor.
Assistant Instructor Course.
The Assistant Instructor Course is conducted over a minimum of four days.

Open Water Scuba Instructor Course
This is a part-two of the Instructor Development process. Here you will hone the skills gained in the Assistant Instructor Course and practice teaching all levels of PADI Courses.
Emergency First Response Instructor Course
Being an Emergency First Response Instructor is a required pre-requisite to joining a PADI Examination to become a PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. This is part-three of our full IDC.
Instructor Course participation requires pre-study of all e-Learning materials. You should register for the program a minimum of 30 days early in order to have time to receive and complete the e-learning.
